Is an exact birth time truly necessary for an accurate reading? +

Yes — the Lagna (Ascendant) changes approximately every two hours, making an accurate birth time essential for precise chart casting. Even a 4-minute difference can shift the chart meaningfully. For clients with uncertain or approximate birth times, we employ birth-time rectification techniques — analysing major life events against potential chart configurations to determine the most likely Lagna. Rectification is offered as a specialised preliminary service. For Prashna Shastra consultations, birth data is not required.

How does Vedic astrology differ from Western astrology? +

The most significant technical distinction is the ayanamsha — the correction for the precession of the equinoxes. Vedic astrology uses a sidereal zodiac aligned with the actual star constellations; Western astrology uses a tropical zodiac aligned with the seasons. This creates a roughly 23-degree difference in planetary positions. Beyond technique, Vedic astrology is philosophically embedded in the Vedic worldview of karma, dharma, and moksha, and employs the Dasha (planetary period) system, divisional charts, and classical yogas that have no Western equivalent.

Does my astrology chart determine my fate? +

Emphatically, no. The classical Jyotisha tradition distinguishes between dridha karma (fixed karma) — events that manifest regardless of effort — and adridha karma (soft karma) — tendencies that can be redirected through conscious effort, remedy, and grace. The birth chart reveals the karmic landscape; it does not mandate the journey across it. Our consultations always emphasise the liberating dimension: understanding your chart increases your agency over it. Planets describe the quality of time — how you navigate that time remains your sovereign choice.

How long does a consultation session last? +

Standard natal consultations run for 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the depth and scope of enquiry. Muhurta consultations are typically 45–60 minutes. Kundali Milan is approximately 75 minutes per couple. Prashna Shastra readings are shorter — 30 to 45 minutes. We do not rush any consultation; each session continues until you have a clear, thorough understanding. Audio recording of the session is available upon request at no additional charge.

What languages are consultations conducted in? +

All our consultations are conducted in Kannada, Hindi, or English — whichever is most comfortable for you. Our chief jyotishi, Dr. K. S. Krishnamurthy, speaks all three languages fluently and adapts his explanatory style accordingly. Sanskrit terminology is introduced gently where relevant, always with clear translation. Written summary notes following the session are provided in your preferred language.

Are gemstone recommendations safe? What if a planet is debilitated? +

This is a critically important question. Gemstone prescriptions require great care — wearing the wrong stone for a functionally malefic planet can aggravate rather than alleviate challenges. We never prescribe gemstones casually or generically. Our prescription is always based on a thorough analysis of the chart — considering the planet's functional nature for your specific Lagna, its strength, dignity, and placement — before any recommendation is made. Debilitated planets require particular caution; we often prescribe the deity's mantra as a safer primary remedy, with gemstones as a supporting measure where appropriate.

Can I consult you for a family member's chart? +

Yes — with the individual's knowledge and consent. We analyse third-party charts regularly for parents enquiring about their children, spouses seeking insight into family dynamics, and individuals concerned about an elderly parent's health cycle. We do, however, request that the subject of the reading is aware and willing, as the reading touches on deeply personal karmic information. Anonymous or covert consultations for a third party without their knowledge are outside our ethical practice.
